Тема: Keeping feet

Цель урока Активизация речевых навыков в диалогической и монологической речи:

Задачи

1. Развивающие:

а) развитие и совершенствование речевых навыков и умений;

б) тренировка учащихся в чтении текста;

в) активизация лексики по теме Keeping Fit.

2. Образовательная: Использование языка для повышения общей культуры.

3. Воспитательная: Воспитание умения общаться с одноклассниками.

Оборудование: аудио оборудование, мультимедийная аппаратура, дидактический материал

Ход урока:

1. Организационный этап. (слайд №1)

Good morning, pupils! I’m very glad to see you.

Who is on duty today? What date is it today? What day of the week is it today? What season is it now? Who is absent today? Thank you. Sit down, please.

2. Постановка цели и задач урока.

The topic of our lesson is «Keeping fit» Today we’ll discuss how can be fit, healthy and strong. (3 мин)

What emotions do you feel: sad, happy or nervous? Now, go to the blackboard and attach the smiley. (1 мин.)(слайд № 2)

4. Речевая разминка.

It’s gonna be Ok, if we will be healthy.

But some people are healthy, some people are unhealthy. The English people say: “Health is the best wealth”. Translate please. (слайд № 4)

They are right! We can’t buy health, but we can do a lot to keep it. Look at the blackboard and say: “What should or shouldn’t people do to be healthy?” Use structure We should/shouldn’t…(слайды № 5-8)

Now you know what to do to be healthy and fit. So, you can give advice. Now let’s read the situation and help the person.

 

B. George Smith smokes 40 cigarettes a day. He gets up late every morning, and drives to a café in the next street. He has a big breakfast and takes three spoons of sugar in his tea. Then he drives to the pub, and has 3 or 4 pints of beer before a big lunch. He never has any fruit after his lunch, because he prefers to have cake or sweets. The only exercise he gets is when he walks upstairs for his afternoon sleep. Later, he has a few more pints of beer and a big dinner, and then he watches television till midnight. At 2.00 he goes to bed, has a few last cigarettes, and goes to sleep with all his windows closed. (4 мин)

5.2. Аудирование. (слайд № 10) Many people go in for sport because they keep fit. There are many kinds of sport in the world. What do you know kinds of sport? Very good. Listen to me and say what sports these people are talking of.

It was born in England. But now it has become a national sport of many countries. About 20 million people fill the stadiums every year to support their favourite players.

It’s usually associated with Australia or California, with sunny climates and ocean, joy and rest. But to do this sport you have to be strong, brave and patient.

There are moments when it’s impossible to see what’s happening on ice. Because quick changes are taking place. Players should be able to change direction while moving at very high speeds. (3 мин)

            Цель: формирование навыков монологического высказывания по теме: «Здоровый образ жизни».

            Задачи

            Развивающие:

            1. Развивать умение кратко высказываться в связи с предложенной ситуацией;

            2. Развивать навыки использования лексики по теме: «Здоровый образ жизни» в кратком монологическом высказывании;

            3. Развивать умение воспринимать англоязычную речь на слух с опорой на текст, извлекать детальную информацию и выражать свое понимание в требуемой форме (таблица, пропуски в тексте)

            Обучающие:

            1. Обучать чтению текста с выборочным извлечением информации;

            2. Обучать практическому использованию структуры Complex Object в устной речи;

            3. Обучать использованию лексики по теме: «Здоровый образ жизни» при выражении своей точки зрения.

            Воспитательные:

            T. – Thank you. Today we continue speaking about health and keeping fit. Please, answer my question: “What should people do to be healthy and to keep fit?”

            P1. – To be healthy people should do sports.

            P3. – To be healthy people should have the right lifestyle.

            T. – Yes, I agree with you. And how do you think, what shouldn’t people do to stay healthy?

            P1. – To my mind people shouldn’t watch TV and use the computer too much.

            P2. – In my opinion, people shouldn’t take drugs, smoke and drink alcohol.

            T. – Well done! I’d like you to find out the rules of being healthy. I’ll help you. Please think, what do your parents make you do, and what don’t your parents allow you to do?

            T. – Yes you are right. The bad habits are very dangerous for your health. And now I’d offer you to fill in the table according to the tape. Find out what damage can we get having the bad habits.

            Bad habits are very dangerous for our health. They can damage our body and our mind greatly. There are 3 main bad habits: smoking, drinking alcohol, and taking drugs.

            People who smoke always have a cough. Their teeth are yellow and skin is unhealthy. Smoking often leads to a cancer of lungs.

            People who drink alcohol usually have a headache. Drinking alcohol is very bad for heart. Such people always have slow reactions, less memory and they are very aggressive.

            The most dangerous habit is taking drugs. The beginners usually have unclear speech and slow reactions. They don’t live in a real world and like it. But then such people have blood and brain diseases. Taking drugs leads to the death.

            T. – So now we know how to be healthy. And let’s speak about how to keep fit. Before we start let’s have a short rest. Here is a fitness instructor in our class. He’ll show us a master- class. Please stand up and listen to the instructor. Max, you are welcome! (Ученик дома готовил проведение занятия по аэробике. Выходит, становится перед классом и показывает движения под музыку, проговаривая при этом слова.)

            All these proverbs concern one topic and that is the topic of our lesson today. What is it? What is going to be the topic of our lesson today? (They answer)

            Right you are. It’s health and keeping fit. Today we’ll revise everything we’ve learnt about health and body care and at the end of the lesson we’ll make the rules how to keep fit.

            Teacher: eating habits have much in common in many countries. Look through the text “ Eating Habits in Britain” and write an outline and the summery of it.

            Eating habits.

            The traditional British breakfast is a cooked meal of bacon, eggs and sausages, preceded by cereal or fruit and followed by toast. Nowadays , this large mral is served mainly in hotels and is very popular with foreign visitors. Britons may eat this big breakfast at weekends or on special occasions but they prefer a smaller, healthier meal to start a normal day.lunch is a light meal and is eaten at school or at work at about 1 p.m. lunch takes 30-40 minutes. Some offices have installed a microwave oven for employees to use. Popular lunchers are: a salad or a sandwich; a baked potato; beans on toast.

            Snacks are very popular in Britain, and many people frequently eat snacks between meals. Schools may also samamell snacks, such as crisps, chocolate, sweets and biscuits. Instant snacks are the fastest-growing sector of the food market.

            Dinner is usually the main meal of the day and consists of two courses – meat or fish and vegetables followed by a dessert or pudding. Convenience and frozen foods are especially popular. Convenience meals are already cooked, all you have to do is to heat them up in the microwave. Most supermarkets sell a range of prepacked meals to be heated in the microwave.

            Take-aways became extremely popular in the 1980s. the traditional British take away is fish and chips eaten with salt and vinegar. Some fish and chips still wrap your meal in newspapers, others use special bags to keep it warm. Some give you a plastic fork. Most towns and cities now offer a wide range of take-away meal, from American-stily hamburgers toTurkish kebabs. Many families prefer to eat take-away food for dinner instead of cooking.

            The Briatish are famous for their love of sweet things, and afternoon tea with sandwiches, scones, jam and several different kinds of coke was once a traditional custom. Like the English cooked breakfast, it is now more often found in teashops and hotels than in private homes, and you can buy special guidebooks to tell you where the best afternoon teas are served. Most working people do not have taes as an afternoon meal, but they do have a sport break in the middle of the afternoon for a cup of tea. Tea is often drunk with lunch and dinner. Since the 1970s eating habits in Brirain have undergone a change. People started to eat less fat and more fibre. Fat is believed to be one of the major causes of obesity and heart disease. Forty per cent of adults in Britain are overweight. High fibre foods and low fat foods can now be found in all shops and supermarkets.

            The British have also started to count calories. They try to take in fewer calories and to follow a calorie-controlled diet. One of the fastest-growing sectors of the food market in Britain is slimming foods.

            Keeping Fit

            Good health is not something we are able to buy at the chemist’ and we can’t depend on getting it back with a quick visit to the doctor when we are ill, either. We often ruin our health by poor diet, stress, bad working environment and carelessness. By keeping fit, changing bad habits or the surrounding conditions we can make our body last without major problems. And what are the ways to keep fit?

            First of all you must miss no chance of outdoor activities as an antidote to our sedentary lives. Skating or skiing in winter and swimming in summer must become part of your everyday life.

            Second, exercise. You must exercise whenever you can – in the morning or in the evening. Third, regular meals are a must if you want to keep fit. Try to avoid going without any food for hours.

            Nowadays, health specialists promote the idea of wellness for everybody. Wellness means achieving the best possible health within the limits of your body. One person may need fewer calories than another. Some people might prefer a lot easier exercise to more strenuous exercise.

            The English people have become very concerned about their health recently. In fact, fitness has become almost a national obsession. In large cities and towns alike people jog regularly, join sports teams and going to health clubs and Fitness Centers to work out.

"I see," said the doctor thoughtfully. "Well, if you excuse me for an hour or so I'll go along and fetch a friend of mine - a veterinarian. He is the only chap I know who can make a diagnosis without asking questions."

            A cure for a headache

            One day a man went into chemist's shop and said: 'Have you anything to cure a headache?"

            The chemist took a bottle from the shelf, held it under the gentleman's nose and took out the cork. The smell was so strong that tears came into the man's eyes and ran down his cheeks.

            "What did you do that for?" he said angrily, as soon he could get back his breath.

            "But that medicine has cured your headache, hasn't it?" said the chemist.

            "You fool," said the man. "It's my wife that has headache, not me!"

            As for my advice I'll tell you what... Don't consult such doctors and try to keep fit yourselves. The topic of our discussion comes from the phrase "to be fit". What is it? What is fitness? Fitness is not the same as sport or PE (Physical Education). It's a combination of physical exercises, quality food, diet, medical tests and check ups, and so on. What is your idea of keeping fit? Read the texts and choose the sentences which reflect your opinion.

            KEEPING FIT

            Many parents in the USA want their families to eat healthy and nutriciuos food nowdays. Fatty foods are dangerous not only for adults but for children as well. It is advisable to have your cholesterol count checked regulary. Research shows that cutting down on cheese, butter and ice-cream in your diet will help lower your cholesterol level 50 points and only this will decrease your risk of developing heart problems later on.

            Research also shows that children are havier today than they used to be some 20-30 years ago, and that the rate of obesity in young children has increased by nearly 60%. More and more parents worry about what their children eat, and bring into their family diets more fresh fruit, vegetables and fish. They avoid paying regular visits to fast-food restaurants, because McDonald's and the like serve mostly unhealthy, fatty, high cholesterol food. People believe that low-fat diets and lots of exercise will help grow a healthy generation.

            But what exercises are best? For example, jogging: to jog or not to jog? That is the question. On the one hand, everyone should think about a healthy way of life. But on the other hand - getting up early on weekends? Never! And what about swimming? What real pleasure is there in the pool? Warming up before swimming helps you feel great. After a week's sitting in front of a computer and at your desk, your limbs are crying out for a bit of exercise. And the music they use in the gymnasium is quite good - energetic and rhythmic. Just 15 minutes of swimming work wonders. They are very refreshing. After that you feel fine and are ready for next week's marathon of work! Instead of swimming or jogging you may go on a cycling tour. This kind of sport also does people a lot of good; and the morning air smells fresh.

            I don't really understand the obsession that people feel about keeping fit these days. There is nothing wrong with being healthy, but with some people it's almost a religion. Nothing would make me jogging. No, thank you. I'd rather sit and have a cup of tea or coffee while the joggers are out in the streets. The idea of going out into the cold morning air to breathe in petrol fumes doesn't appeal to me at all. I get my exercise by working to the bus stop on my way to work.

            And what about the food people eat? I know a man who eats natural foods and takes a lot of vitamins, but I've never seen anybody who looks as bad as he does. I like good food. I think most health food is tasteless. There is nothing wrong in having a bar of chocolate or a big meal of meat and potatoes.

            Lots of people I know do Yoga. I'm not really sure what it is all about. I can't see any point in sitting on the floor with your feet behind your ears. It looks very uncomfortable to me. I'm sure sitting in an armchair, watching television or reading a book is as healthy. So, as you see, I'm not in favour of keeping fit. I don't jog or do any sports. I don't eat health food; but I'm happy the way I am.

            Предлагаемый урок разработан на основе УМК для 7 классов под редакцией Биболетовой М.З. Это урок обобщающего повторения при изучении темы "Здоровый образ жизни". Урок представлен в виде проекта, целью которого является формирование системы знаний и умений, воплощённых в конечный интеллектуальный продукт. Учитель содействует самостоятельности, умению логически мыслить, видеть проблемы и принимать решения. Учащиеся учатся получать и использовать информацию.

            На уроке реализуется принцип коммуникативной направленности и для его осуществления используются фронтальные, индивидуальные и групповые формы работы. Дети читают аутентичный материал на английском языке, таким образом, они видят реальные возможности применения своих знаний языка и получают мотивацию для дальнейшего совершенствования свих навыков и умений.

            Урок разработан с учетом здоровьесберегающего аспекта. Благодаря использованию методов технологии критического мышления, игровой и проектной технологии, имеет место стимулирование мыслительной деятельности учащихся, и как следствие, ученики всё чаще попадают в ситуацию успеха. Положительные эмоции облегчают усвоение материала, уменьшают утомление, стимулируют высшую нервную деятельность ребёнка, улучшает психологический климат на уроке. Необходимым условием здоровьесбережения является творческий характер педпроцесса. Включение школьника в творческую деятельность способствует реализации поисковой деятельности. Возможности для решения творческих задач в учебном процессе достигается через использование активных форм и методов обучения, о которых упоминалось выше.

            Урок сопровождается презентацией выполненной в программе “Power Point”. Творческий подход позволяет учителю максимально эффективно использовать в своей работе богатый инструментарий, представляемый современными компьютерными образовательными технологиями. Использование мультимедиа на уроках - это и требование сегодняшнего дня, и огромная помощь в педагогической работе.

Then he drives to the pub, and has 3 or 4 pints of beer before a big lunch. He never has any fruit after his lunch, because he prefers to have cake or sweets. The only exercise he gets is when he walks upstairs for his afternoon sleep. Later, he has a few more pints of beer and a big dinner, and then he watches television till midnight.                       Ход урока:

                      I. Организационный момент.

                      a) Вступительное слово учителя, постановка цели и задач урока. (1 мин.)

                      T: – Good morning, everybody! I’m very glad to see you. How are you?

                      P1: – I’m fine, thanks. And how are you?

                      T: – I’m fine too. Thank you. (Слайды № 1, 2)

                      T: – Look at the screen and think what we are going to speak about. Yes, you are right. Today we’ll speak on the topic “Health and body care”. We are going to discuss our lifestyle and the ways of taking care about our health. At the lesson you are going to speak a lot, using lexical and grammatical material; to listen to the doctor`s story and to do the task, to show your presentations and to check your knowledge on the topic. You are going to work in small groups. I wish you good luck.
